Last night I got this idea for the day’s piece, but I was just too tired to sit down to either sketch this out or draw it digitally. So, it’s out this morning.
The words are from La Borinqueña, which is the official anthem for Puerto Rico. The image is that of a garita (pronounced gah-REE-tah), a watchpost/turret built on all forts during the 1500s by the Spanish, and one of the images most commonly associated with Puerto Rico (I think). There are alternate lyrics to the song, but I’ll address those with tomorrow’s (or rather, today’s) piece.
